Abstract:

Background Sperm DNA fragmentation is known as an important cause of male infertility. The influence of sperm DNA damage on reproductive potential has been subject of many studies indicating various results and remaining the subject controversial. In this study, we investigated differences of the semen parameters and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) outcome according to sperm DNA fragmentation levels (DFLs) of patients. MaterialsAndMethods The DFLs were determined by Halosperm, a new improved sperm chromatin dispersion (SCD) test. Patients were grouped as low DNA fragmentation group (LFG ≤30%) and high fragmentation group (HFG >30%). Results Our analysis showed that semen parameters including concentration of untreated sperm and motility of prepared semen were low in HGF, whereas other parameters were not different. Sperm DNA fragmentation levels decreased in both groups after semen preparation by density gradient technique. Conclusion No difference was detected on ICSI outcomes (fertilization, embryo development, embryo cleavage, embryo quality and pregnancy rates) between two group.

Relationship between Sperm Parameters and DNA Fragmentation using a Halosperm Kit

Introduction: tegrity is the most important component for transferring genetic information Sperm DNA fragmentation is considered a component of male infertility. Its assessment comprises conventional semen analysis of which emphasis is placed on its evaluation in fertility clinics. In this study, we investigate the relationship between sperm parameters of motility, morphology, concentratio...

The effect of rhFSH on Sperm DNA Fragmentation and sperm parameters in Oligozoospermia Infertile Men

Background: One of the main causes of male infertility is the negative effects of oxidative stress. Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) plays an essential role in spermatogenesis, as well as in the maintenance of sperm DNA integrity. This study aimed to determine whether the recombinant human follicle-stimulating hormone (rhFSH) treatment of sperm parameters could positively affect sperm DNA and...

P-19: Effect of Three Sperm Preparation Methods on Sperm DNA Integrity and Oocyte Fertilization Rate

Background: Techniques of sperm preparation require centrifugation to separate spermatozoa from the seminal plasma. The centrifugation can induce damage to the spermatozoa and increase reactive oxygen species(ROS) productionspecially in leukospermic speciemens that are associated with impaired function and fertilizing capacity. However in ICSI, fertilization can occure with damage DNA sperm but...
